South Bend felon sentenced in federal court on firearm charge

A South Bend man has been sentenced to over seven years in prison on a firearms charge.

31-year-old Tyrone Miller was sentenced in federal court to seven years and three months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The U.S. Attorney’s office in the Northern Indiana District says Miller crashed his vehicle into a pole in the early morning hours of Feb. 11 of this year.

As Miller was being patted down by officers, he struggled and tried to pull away. Miller was taken to jail and, when he arrived, officers found a handgun on the car’s floorboard by where his feet were.

Miller was convicted by a federal court jury in July.
