A fire hit a little too close to home for South Bend firefighters overnight.

A fire broke out at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at the South Bend fire station #4 on North Olive Street. ABC 57 is reporting a fire truck went up in flames inside the garage and caused extensive damage to the cabin area.

Smoke filled the garage and it’s believed it went into the firefighter’s sleeping quarters. Firefighters had to find alternate sleeping arrangements overnight. No injuries were reported. Some equipment was damaged.

It’s not known exactly what caused the fire truck to erupt in flames.
