Speed Rocket Fireworks on East Winona Avenue in Warsaw suffered severe damage from a fire early Sunday morning.

Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory Public Information Officer Max Kinsey says firefighters were dispatched at 12:38 AM and were on scene in one minute. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy smoke coming from the building.

Kinsey says firefighters were able to attack the fire quickly using a lot of water and make an advance on it blaze until the fire began to set off the fireworks inside, and that’s when firefighters had to pull out of the building and continue to douse the fire from the outside.

The fire was under control at 2:22 AM and fire crews left the scene at 4:05 AM. The cause remains under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal.

Estimated damage to both property and contents was estimated at $250,000. No injuries were reported.

WWFT was assisted on scene by Winona Lake Fire and Police, Leesburg Fire, Warsaw Police, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and NIPSCO.
