Select Indiana State Park properties will close temporarily for controlled deer reductions in the coming weeks. 19 state parks in all were closed yesterday and will be closed again today. A second set of hunts is for Monday, Nov. 26, and Tuesday, Nov. 27. Area parks hosting the controlled hunts include Chain O’ Lakes in Noble County and Potato Creek in Southern St. Joseph County. Only certified hunters are allowed into those state parks with special tags to help reduce deer herds that biologists have deemed unhealthy to both the deer and the plant life in them.
