State Police investigating officer-involved shooting in Warsaw

The Indiana State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting involving a Warsaw police officer.

Warsaw Police were called to a house in the 1800 block of Michaels Street around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on reports of an unwanted party, who was unknown to the residents of the house.

The suspect left prior to the police arriving and began to walk in traffic on Old Road 30, also known as Lake Street.

The suspect then allegedly began to try to get into cars that were passing by before encountering a Warsaw police officer.

During this encounter the suspect began to struggle with the officer, who attempted to use his Taser. The Taser reportedly had no effect on the suspect.

Indiana State Police say the officer fired his weapon, hitting the suspect in the right arm.

The suspect received non-life threatening injuries.  Once the scene was stabilized, officers rendered aid to the suspect prior to Lutheran EMS arriving.

The officer was not injured.
