Crews are still cleaning up after an active string of storms passed through the listening area this morning, bringing a tornado warning with it and several reports of cloud rotations just before 1:00 a.m. In the 15 minutes that followed, Kosciusko County was dealt heavy winds, torrential rain and severe weather, which caused numerous power outages across the listening area. Local power companies reported that up to 5500 residents were left without power, even as crews worked vigorously to restore power throughout the morning. The storm also left many downed trees in its wake, some causing local roadways to become completely impassable. In Warsaw, there were reports of a tree falling on a structure near a home on South Union Street and power lines causing sparks in the roadway. By 2:00 a.m., the the National Weather Service had downgraded the storm to a Severe Thunderstorm Watch and by 3:00 a.m, it had cancelled the storm completely. We'll continue to update you as power is restored and roadways are cleared.
