Syracuse Man Arrested On Theft & Various Drug Charges



KCSD Press Release- Kosciusko County and Syracuse officers have arrested a Syracuse man last evening on theft and various drug charges. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Drug Task Force deputies, along with Syracuse police officers, executed a search warrant last evening at approximately 6 p.m. at the location of 9485 North, State Road 13, Syracuse.  Once inside, officers took Jason Paul Halsey, 40, into custody without incident.  Officers also immediately located items associated with the production of methamphetamine, along with a substance believed to an illegal synthetic drug.  

Syracuse officers had originally initiated the investigation of Halsey after he was identified as a suspect involved in a previous theft from the Syracuse Ace Hardware.  D.T.F. and Syracuse officers were able to locate the stolen power drill taken during the theft within Halsey’s residence. 
Halsey was arrested and preliminarily charged with felony theft, possession of synthetic drug/cannabinoid, and possession of precursors used in the production of methamphetamine.  Halsey’s bond was set at $2,000.  The Kosciusko Count Prosecutor’s Office also assisted K.C.S.D. and Syracuse police with the investigation.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office advises that the defendant’s charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
