According to a press release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, officers conducted increased surveillance of the sandbar in various watercraft types to monitor boat traffic for alcohol-related offenses. As a result of the targeted patrol, 13 minor-aged persons were issued citations for underage drinking. Officers also issued two infraction citations for boating violations. The press release stated Indiana conservation officers are dedicated to creating a safe environment for all who enjoy Indiana’s public waterways, and targeted enforcement details such as this are conducted on area waterways as complaints from the public draw awareness to specific areas of concern.
