Three County Police Chase Ends with K-9’s Death

A three-county policy chase Wednesday ended with a fiery crash that claimed the life of death of a sheriff’s department K-9 unit. An Indiana State Police report says the chase started with an armed carjacking on US 30 northwest of Plymouth around 3:30pm. Officers tracked the vehicle into Warsaw and attempted to stop it near Meijer Drive, but the driver pulled over to let a passenger out and then sped away. The pursuit continued into Whitley County, where an officer blocked part of the road and put out Stop Sticks east of Larwill. The suspect rammed his vehicle into the deputy’s car, and it burst into flames. The Whitley County K-9 was inside and officers couldn’t get it out in time. The suspect has not been identified.
