Milford Town Council adopts noise ordinance

The Milford Town Council is moving forward with a noise ordinance. It was adopted at their meeting this week.

The Times-Union reports the new rule limits maximum noise levels for residential neighborhoods to 55 decibels between 7 a.m. and 9:59 p.m., and 50 decibels between 10 p.m. and 6:59 a.m.

Those limits don’t apply to construction work– which can top out at 75 decibels for a 12-hour time frame during the day.

Exceptions to the ordinance include emergency alarms or sirens, snow removal equipment, domestic power tools and lawnmowers being used before 8 p.m.
