Three people, including a nine-year old, were injured in a single-vehicle crash late Sunday night, where alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened just before midnight in rural western Kosciusko County along County Road 600 North, near CR 625 West. Police received the call from a nearby resident, who said a male juvenile went to the home, saying his mother was hurt in a crash.

Police located the vehicle, along with the driver, 30-year old Natasha Brunner of Syracuse, who had to be extricated from the vehicle. A front seat passenger, 31-year old Codi Stout of Mentone, was ejected from the vehicle. Both Brunner and Stout were flown to Fort Wayne, while the juvenile was taken by ambulance to Fort Wayne.

Police say Brunner was travelling westbound on 600 North at an excessive rate of speed, when for unknown reasons, she lost control of the vehicle which left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned. The investigation is ongoing.
