Two local lakes will have their water reduced next week to prepare for the winter.

The gate at the Tippecanoe Control Structure on Tippecanoe Lake will be opened on Sunday to adjust the lake water level for the next five months. Officials will bring the water level back up for the spring in April.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources announced will be removing the stop logs from the dam on Pike Lake next Monday morning, water level and weather permitting, to bring the level down by roughly a foot.
