Two Injured In Buggy vs. Motorcycle Crash Near Milford

KCSD Press Release- Kosciusko County officials are currently investigating a vehicular traffic crash west of Milford that has left one person in serious condition and a second in critical condition.


Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded today at 3:07 p.m. to a reported motorcycle and buggy crash on County Road 1350 North, near County Road 200 West. Responders arrived located the motorcycle driver, identified as Tracy A. Newcomer, 58, Nappanee, in the roadway. Newcomer was airlifted from the scene and taken to Parkview Region Medical, Fort Wayne, in critical condition with head and multiple injuries.


Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team members stated that a preliminary investigation into the crash has determined that Newcomer had been traveling westbound on County Road 1350 North. A horse and buggy being controlled by Willis Lehman, 76, Nappanee, purportedly entered onto the roadway from a private driveway in front of Newcomer. Newcomer collided with the rear portion of the buggy, partially ejecting the passenger, Frieda Lehman, 58, Nappanee. Frieda Lehman was transported to the South Bend Memorial Hospital in serious condition with leg, chest, and back injuries. Willis Lehman was reportedly uninjured in the crash.

Officers stated that the crash is still currently under investigation. The Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team was assisted at the scene by members of the Milford Fire Department, Nappanee E.M.S., Milford Police Department, Lutheran E.M.S. Kosciusko, Indiana State Police, and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
