WARSAW — A fire damaged six units at Lakeland Villa Apartments on Chamberlin Drive on Warsaw’s south side.

The fire was called in around 5 p.m.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.

Officials believe the fire started on a deck. Two apartments were damaged after firefighters accessed the third-story units from the roof after the fire spread into that attic.

Four other units sustained water damage, according to Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory Fire Marshal Joe Fretz.

The apartment complex is owned by Lakeland Properties LLC, according to Beacon.com.

In addition to Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, other departments responding were from Winona Lake and Plain Township.
