Warsaw Community High School’s speech team is faring well in their first year of competition.

They placed fifth out of ten schools at a competition held at Lakeland High School on Saturday.

The team, comprised of four freshman and one sophomore, competed at the varsity level.

Head Speech Coach Kathryn Anders says they’re looking forward to sectionals next weekend.

“These students have worked hard and are competing against upperclassmen and winning,” she says.

Next weekend, the speech team will be competing at Concord High School.

This is the first time Warsaw Community Schools has had a speech team in over a decade.
