Warsaw Resident Arrested For Allegedly Hitting Wife

Warsaw resident Rene Rodriguez was arrested Monday for allegedly hitting his wife while his children were present.
Rodriguez, 29, of 908 Oak Brook Place, Warsaw, was arrested Monday night facing the charge of domestic battery with a child under 16 present, which  was enhanced as he was previously convicted of domestic battery in December 2014.
On Feb. 9, Warsaw Police Department officers responded to a domestic battery report at 12:32 a.m. Rodriguez’s wife told police that she and her husband were arguing when he got angry and slapped her, causing her lip to bleed. He then hit her on the hip with a belt, according to the probable cause affidavit provided by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
The couple’s two children were home and could hear the argument and the sound of someone being hit. Rodriguez advised that while he and his wife were arguing, she hit him on the head and attempted to hit him with a hammer. He admitted that he did hit her on the face and hip, causing the laceration to her lip and marks to her hip.
He is currently being held on $6,000 bond at Kosciusko County Jail.
