Warsaw’s First Friday Event Taking Place This Friday

Musical May is the theme for this weekend’s First Friday.
The downtown area will be filled with music from 5 to 9 p.m. In addition to local radio stations, Center Stage will be spotlighted with the Astound Dancers from 6 to 6:30 p.m., Ben Meulink from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and the Sock Moneys from 7 to 9 p.m. 
Warsaw Community High School jazz and pep bands will perform on the courthouse steps from 6 to 6:45 p.m. under the direction of Mickey Ratliff.
Also on the courthouse steps following the band at 7 p.m. will be the Lakeland Community Choir and Youth Chorale from Warsaw’s Classic Arts Program. The group is under the direction of Dr. Ardis Faber and Dr. Judie Meulink. 
The Lakes Area Community Band under the direction of Marty Becker will be on the west lawn of the courthouse and this year will be joined by the Morning Optimist Singers.
The Orthoworx tent will have an accordion demo and bagpiper.
Manium, the winning group from Warsaw Community High School’s battle of the bands, will play and Gary Gerard will be a solo act this year.
Mike Beezley will be at The Emporium and Next Chapter Book Store.
Children can play their own musical instruments at the Presbyterian booth. In addition to music, there will be local dance troupes performing in the streets.
There will be booths available from church groups to summer camp information, hands-on musical instruments, chicken fundraising and candidates.
Classic Arts Program will have a barbecue chicken fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. at the city hall plaza. The cost is $8 for a chicken breast, side and drink. Tickets are available from any Community Choir and Youth Chorale member and at Latte Lounge, 108 N. Buffalo St.
