Winona Hires New Clerk

The daughter of the town marshal will take over as accounts payable/general ledger clerk.
The town council approved Meghan Hawn to take over for Cindy Nolton, who is retiring. Meghan’s father Joe is the Winona Lake town marshal.
Nolton is scheduled to retire April 28. She has worked for the town since 2012.
Meghan is a Warsaw Community High School graduate and has an accounting background and experience, according to town officials. She will be paid $40,495 annually.
Meghan has worked in the accounting department for “one of the major employers in the county” for about a year, said Town Coordinator Craig Allebach. He added that her job duties were similar to work she will be doing for the town.
In other business, the council unanimously approved two reserve officers to join the Winona Lake Police Department.
Daniel Clemens and Ben Sanders were sworn in as reserve officers.
Joe Hawn said these two officers bring the total of reserve officers up to 11.
Lyn Crichton, executive director of The Watershed Foundation, is planning a cottage tour of Winona Lake.
On the tour, groups get on boats and tour lakeside houses and there is usually a party after.
The cost of the tour is $25. The tour has been tentatively scheduled for Sept. 9.
