Winona Lake man accused of tackling a child

A Winona Lake man is facing charges after police say he tackled an 11-year-old boy and pushed him against a wall.

Mitchell Robinson, 31, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail Tuesday morning on a felony charge of battery on a child under 14.

At about 11:30 p.m. Monday, the boy walked into Walgreens. The boy was  “shaken up” and said that he had been attacked, according to Warsaw Police Capt. Kip Shuter.

Police responded to the store and were led to a residence on Argonne Road.

Police allege Robinson tackled the boy and pushed him against a wall after finding $50 on the boy that didn’t belong to him.

Robinson lives at the house with the child and the child’s mother, but is not related or romantically involved with the mother, Shuter said.

The injuries to the child were minor, but charged as a felony due to the boy’s age, Shuter said.

Robinson is out on bond.
