Norfolk Southern is expected to begin work on Hickory Street beginning Monday, August 3.
Hickory Street will be closed for approximately one month.
There will be no parking on Hickory Street between Center Street and Main Street through the end of August.  Residents should use other nearby on-street parking during the construction period.
Trash and recycling pick-up will be affected during this time.  Trash and recycling bins should be moved to the North/South alley directly behind or east of each residence.  Residents who currently place bins on Main Street or Center Street can continue to do so as normal.
This project will restructure Hickory Street to become a one-way street, with traffic flowing north and south from Center Street.  Safety medians, curbing, parking changes, and additional safety signage and signals will also be added to Hickory Street to improve safety when a train is approaching the area.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution and exercise patience while driving in the area to keep construction crews safe.
