Warsaw man arrested for rape, confinement

A Warsaw man has been arrested on charges of rape, criminal confinement, strangulation and domestic battery, all felony charges.

Jeremy Summers, 39, of 720 West Center St., Warsaw, was arrested Thursday, August 25 and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a $50,250 bond.

According to an affidavit of probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s office, on August 24 an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to Gateway Education Center on North Union Street in Warsaw.

Upon arrival, the officer met with a female victim who appeared distraught and had a swollen contusion above her left eye and scratches on her neck. In speaking with the victim, she advised the following evening her husband, Jeremy Summers, allegedly accused her of cheating on him and got very upset with her.

Throughout the course of the evening, he became physically violent with her. She described how Summers continually beat her by striking her and choking her on multiple occasions to the point of passing out throughout the course of the evening.  At one point while strangling her, Summers allegedly stated, “how does it feel to draw your last breath.”

The victim further stated that Summers would not allow her to leave the bedroom for the remainder of the night. In the early morning hours when she was changing clothes, he forced her to submit to sexual intercourse while being extremely violet and aggressive.

The physical abuse continued throughout the entire night, eventually with Summers using a pair of scissors to prevent the victim from leaving the residence.  During the late morning, the victim was able to escape to a neighbor’s home who took her to the Gateway Education Center to contact police.

The neighbor told police she heard the victim screaming “help me, help me” and Summers yelling “get back here!” She then saw the victim stagger toward her and observed her injuries.  The neighbor could hear Summers yell, “I didn’t touch her!”

Summers fled the scene and after an extensive search by the Warsaw Police Department was located and allegedly admitted he felt bad about injuring his wife and was going to kill himself.
