17-Year Old Burket Boy Dies In Lawn Mower Accident

KCSD Press Release -Kosciusko County officials are currently investigating the death of a 17-year-old near Burket. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded today at 5:36 p.m., to the 8200 block of west, County Road 600 South, Claypool, in regards to a machinery accident.  Officer’s arrived and located the victim, Kurt M. Miller, 17, underneath a lawnmower.  Kosciusko County Coroner Michael Wilson was summoned to the scene and pronounced Miller deceased.  Wilson stated that the formal determination of death will be made later after a scheduled autopsy tomorrow at the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center, Fort Wayne.  The initial investigation determined that Miller’s clothing had been pulled into the mower pulleys while working on the machinery.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office were assisted at the scene by the Burket Fire Department, Mentone E.M.S. and the Claypool Police Department.
