Best Ways To Beat The Heat This Summer

Air-Conditioning

We’re starting with the easy one, here. The best way to beat the heat is to stay inside and blast the AC. Let’s face it– you were likely going to catch up on your binge-watching this weekend anyway!

Swimming

This is a great way to enjoy the outdoors but still stay cool. The first steps into a swimming pool usually feel too cold– but eventually it turns into the perfect experience and a great way to have fun while beating the heat.

Eat Cool Refreshments

Popsicles, ice cream, and watermelon, Oh My! Enjoy some classic summer refreshments that are fresh out of the freezer or refrigerator. While eating cold foods might not actually cool down the body, it definitely brings some relief when its hot outside.

Eat Spicy Foods

Yeah, you read that right. While it might seem counter-intuitive, spicy foods actually help your body adjust to hot temperatures. The spiciness raises your internal temperature to match the temperature outside, according to HuffPost. Then your blood circulation increases. Finally, you start sweating and once your moisture has evaporated, you’ve cooled off.

Chill Your Mattress & Sheets

Here’s a life hack for you: get your bed nice and cold before you take a summer’s nap. Put cold gel pads on your mattress to cool it down. You can also fold up your sheets and pillowcases and put them into a freezer bag and then into the freezer. Who needs the cool side of the pillow when you have a whole bed that’s cool?

Use Aloe Vera

Though Aloe Vera is known as a sunburn treatment, it actually has a natural cooling effect. This can feel nice on a hot day regardless of whether or not you have a sunburn.

Take A Cool Shower

If all else fails, take a cool shower! It can give your body some recovery time from the hot temperatures and you won’t have to worry about running out of hot water.
