Caucus called to replace North Webster Council president who passed away

Kosciusko County Republicans have announced plans for a caucus to fill a vacancy on North Webster’s town council after its president passed away.

Jon Sroufe died Sept. 23 at the age of 76.

Sroufe served on the council for 13 years.

The caucus will consider candidates who reside within the town limits.

Ragan announced on Tuesday that the caucus will convene in the North Webster Community Center council chambers at 6 p.m. Oct. 12.

Ragan said he held off on announcing the caucus until after Sroufe’s funeral out of respect for the family.

Republican precinct committeemen from Precincts 1 and 2 in Tippecanoe Township will comprise the caucus.

Declarations of candidacy are available at the Kosciusko County Clerk of the Circuit Court office at 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw.

Deadline to file paperwork is 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Candidates will be allowed three minutes to address the caucus before the vote. Anyone with questions should contact Ragan at 574-265-1430 or email him at mragan@sprintmail.com.
