County OKs Corrections Grant

Kosciusko County Commissioners this morning approved grant funding from a Community Corrections Grant.
Kurt Jones, director of community corrections for Kosciusko County Community Corrections, requested the county accept a $356,300 grant that will be used for electronic monitoring for home detention.
The grant will be issued July 1, and be in effect until June 30, 2017.
Those on home detention will be tracked by a GPS system and be required to have a job.
“My goal is to do the best I can to rehabilitate them,” Jones said.
Bob Conley, commissioner, made the motion to approve the grant, seconded by Brad Jackson, commissioner.
In other business, the commissioners approved Marsha McSherry to serve as the American Disability Act coordinator for the county.
Scott Tilden, county highway superintendent, said CR 900W reconstruction is nearly complete with culverts and asphalt placed. Striping will be done shortly and the final inspection will happen soon.
Margaret Cousins was approved as a board appointment to Milford Library Board.
Rob Robinson, county administrator, said the boilers are aging and need to be replaced in the Justice Building. The commissioners approved working with Chad Miner, county attorney, to make sure it is an emergency repair before seeking quotes.
