Crash Injuries Prove Fatal To Motorcyclist

A Warsaw man who was ejected from his motorcycle in a two-vehicle accident Monday has been pronounced dead.

Stephen L. Yeazel, 71, Wexford Place, Warsaw, was pronounced dead at 6:27 p.m. Thursday due to blunt force trauma due to a crash, said Mike Burris, Allen County deputy coroner.

Yeazel had been airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne after an accident about 5:57 p.m. Monday at the intersection of North Ind. 15 and East Main Street, Warsaw.

According to the Warsaw Police Department report, Aswin S. Krishnan, 25, of Collins Drive, Warsaw, said he was driving his black 2018 Nissan Rogue north on North Ind. 15 near the intersection with East Main Street in Warsaw. As he approached the intersection, the traffic light abruptly turned red, he said. He applied his brakes to stop but was unable. Krishnan said the front of his Nissan hit the left side of Yeazel’s green 1996 Harley-Davidson XL1 motorcycle, which was in the intersection. Krishnan said he was not on his phone.

Several witnesses said Krishnan’s vehicle entered the intersection after the light had changed.  Another witness said Krishnan disregarded the traffic signal and struck Yeazel’s motorcycle in the intersection, according to the accident report.

One witness said Krishnan had his cell phone in his hand, according to the accident report.

Krishnan was cited for disregarding a traffic control device. He was taken to the hospital for a consensual blood draw where he was released.

WPD Public Information Officer Det./Sgt. Brad Kellar said the accident is current active investigation and would not comment on any possible charges regarding the accident.
