Drought conditions continue throughout the area according to the latest data from the University of Nebraska’s Drought Monitor.

The new data shows much of Kosciusko County under a Moderate Drought as rainfall remains well below normal. The drought conditions also extended throughout Marshall, Fulton, Noble and Elkhart Counties.

The National Weather Service office in North Webster, in a summer wrap-up earlier this week on meteorological summer, showed that the main reporting stations in South Bend and Fort Wayne were between one and two inches below normal for precipitation over the past three months, while temperatures were close to three degrees above normal, making it just slightly warmer than the summer of 2012.
