Wawasee High School moving to eLearning due to COVID, low staffing numbers

Wawasee High School is moving to eLearning for a couple of weeks due to low staffing numbers and the coronavirus.

Superintendent Dr. Tom Edington made the announcement in a letter to parents Thursday afternoon. He stated in the release that the district is approaching 100 students that have been sent home with symptoms of COVID, with more students and staff being impacted because they live in the same household.

Right now, 14 teachers, 5 bus drivers, 6 paraprofessionals, 2 custodians, and multiple other classified staff members are quarantined. Edington said cose contact with COVID-19 positive cases outside of school are having as much or more of a negative impact on school operations as those that occur while school is in session.

Officials say they are planning on returning the high school to in-person classes on Monday, September 14th.
