Elkhart woman who claims she was tricked into joining ISIS has returned to the U.S.

A former Elkhart resident who claims that she was tricked into joining ISIS has returned to the U.S.

Samantha el Hassani was charged with making a false statement to the FBI after returning to the states Tuesday.

The South Bend Tribune reports that her four children, who returned with her, are currently in the care of the Indiana Department of Child Services.

She previously told CNN that her husband became an ISIS fighter and she decided to keep the family together.

He was killed by a drone strike in 2017, and she says she wants to return to a normal life in the U.S.
