NAPA Auto Parts awarded a $500 Automotive Excellence scholarship to Nick Lowman, a first-year student at the University of Northwestern Ohio majoring in high performance motor sports.

The scholarship was presented Friday at Global Auto on Buffalo Street in Warsaw. Lowman was part of an auto mechanics class at Warsaw Community High School that Alan Hoyt, of Global Auto, taught. Second-year students in the class were asked to apply for the scholarship by writing essays.

Criteria for the scholarship included the student maintain a GPA over a 2.7, be enrolled in their second year of the auto mechanics class, have one letter of recommendation, be a Warsaw Community High School student, be enrolled in some form of continued learning and write an essay.

The deadline for the scholarship was April 30. The scholarship funds can be used to help Lowman further his education in any way.
