Honor Flight Northeast Indiana seeks veterans from Elkhart County

Honor Flight Northeast Indiana is looking for Elkhart County veterans.

The flights take veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and other wars on a chartered flight to Washington D.C., where they get to tour the various memorials. They also get a hero’s welcome from patriots at both Reagan National Airport as well as Fort Wayne International Airport when they return.

Over 1,700 veterans have taken Honor Flights from the northeast hub since 2005, but the Elkhart Truth reports the organization is looking for more veterans in Elkhart County.

The flights are free for veterans and are paid for with donations. First priority goes to World War II veterans or any veteran that is terminally ill, followed by years of service after that.
