Indiana Officials Looking For Help To Stop Robocalls

An Indiana official is looking for help in his efforts to strike back against robocalls. Indiana's attorney general hopes to get some help from Hoosiers in his fight against automated telemarketing calls and spam text messages. Attorney General Greg Zoeller is asking people to call or email the Federal Communications Commission, and urge its membership to approve a proposal designed to strengthen the rules. Zoeller says it is difficult for states to stop the practice because many of the calls originate overseas. There were 13 thousand complaints about unwanted calls and telephone harassment filed at his office last year. The Commission is expected to take up the matter Thursday. Other state Attorneys General have made similar public appeals.
