Man arrested following standoff at a Peru home

A man was arrested following a standoff at a Miami County home on Tuesday morning.

Indiana State Police say they arrested 36-year Michael Pettingill on charges of domestic battery, resisting law enforcement, strangulation and on a Fulton County arrest warrant for theft-receiving stolen property.

Troopers were called to a home on Capehart Avenue in Peru just before 6 AM on a reported battery to a 32-year old woman who lives at the home. They noticed an injury on the woman that indicated she had allegedly been battered by Pettingill. Officers made numerous requests to get Pettingill out of the home, and refused to exit. He was subsequently arrested just after 9 AM after police say he tried to escape out a rear window of the home.
