The identity of a man who was shot in Huntington on Wednesday has been identified.
Indiana State Police say 29-year old Vincent Michael Smith was shot during a foot pursuit with officers in Yeoman Park.
Huntington County and Huntington city officers were called to a home Wednesday afternoon to check on Smith, who was said that he was considering hurting himself. Walker says officers found Smith armed at a park and he didn’t comply with officers’ commands, and a foot chase ensued.
Police say one officer fired a shot, but it wasn’t clear if anyone else did. It wasn’t clear what caused the officer to shoot.
The investigation is ongoing in the case.
