A northern Indiana police officer has resigned after an internal review found that he fired a gun while riding in a truck with two other intoxicated off-duty officers.

The Goshen Board of Works on Monday accepted officer Kyle Kalb’s resignation, effective May 8.

Kalb was a passenger in a truck when another Goshen officer, Brody Brown, was stopped Dec. 14 after an on-duty officer heard what sounded like two gunshots coming from an underpass.

Brown later pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and the board of works imposed a 50-day unpaid suspension Monday for Brown.

The truck’s other passenger, Elkhart Police officer Leonard Dolshenko, has returned to active duty after Elkhart County’s prosecutor concluded there wasn’t enough evidence to warrant criminal charges over the fired gunshots.
