There was another pretrial hearing for Alyssa Shepherd in Rochester Wednesday. Shepherd was not present as her attorney met with Fulton County Prosecutor Mike Harris to set a date for the final pre-trial hearing before the trial begins October 15. Both sides are expected to exchange witness lists and evidence they plan to present at that meeting. Harris told WNDU that he’s not surprised by the length of time it’s taken to get the case to trial.
Harris also says that air conditioning at the courthouse in Rochester is unreliable, and so waiting until October for the trial could eliminate that potential problem. Shepherd is being tried for allegedly hitting four children waiting for their bus last October, killing three.
