Supreme Court Blocks Obama On Restrictions To Coal Power Plants

The U.S. Supreme Court handed a small victory to Indiana‘s coal burning power plants by blocking the Obama administration from imposing certain restrictions on greenhouse gases. The Court ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency cannot change the emissions threshold for greenhouse gases released by certain industries. The courts majority says only congress can do that. Indiana, and several other states challenged the regulations, since more than 80-percent of Indiana‘s electricity is generated by plants that burn coal, however the ruling still allows EPA much of its power to regulate carbon emissions.
