THURSDAY COVID UPDATE: State numbers top 3,000, third death reported in Elkhart Co.

Indiana’s numbers of positive COVID-19 cases topped over 3,000 and Elkhart County is reporting their third COVID related death on Thursday.

The daily 10 AM update from the Indiana State Department of Health shows 474 new positive COVID tests in the state, bringing the total up to 3,039. Thirteen more deaths were also reported, bringing the state’s total to 78.

This follows another 1,910 tests that came through as 16,285 tests have been performed overall through the end of the day on Wednesday, April 1st.

Locally, Elkhart County has four additional positive cases and now has 27 and Marshall County has confirmed their fourth positive case.

Indianapolis/Marion County remains to have the highest amount of positive COVID cases with 1,304. Lake County has the second most with 215 and Hamilton County the third most with 207.

Positive coronavirus cases have now been confirmed in 84 of the state’s 92 counties.
