There’s still time to drop off good used toys for this weekend’s 27th Annual Toy Time consignment sale.

And even though the number of toys for the sale is down this year compared to previous years, the sale will still go on, with proceeds benefitting Combined Community Services’ toy giveaway.

Ami Pitt, Combined Community Services, said Wednesday that as of Tuesday night, they had a little more than 7,800 toys.

“Today has been super slow. I don’t know if it’s the weather or what’s going on. People are having a hard time finding us this year, is what I’m hearing. I don’t know why. I think they get it confused with the COVID testing across the (way), so they pull in and think we’re not here,” Pitt said.

She said they’re at the Home & Family Arts Building at the Kosciusko County fairgrounds.

“We just need people to bring us their toys,” she said. They will continue to accept toys from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. “We do have 7,800 toys. It’s not like we don’t have toys to sell, but we need people to still go ahead and bring some in.”

She said typically they’re around 13,000 toys.

“It still will be a great sale Saturday and Sunday,” Pitt said.

The public sale is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Those attending the sale must wear a face mask. Cash is preferred and they can’t take a charge card. Directions will be on the floor so people move in one direction. Everyone should social distance if they can, and Pitt said she can have 100 people in the building at one time.

“Nobody is going to be waiting in line,” Pitt said.

At least 50% of the proceeds will go toward the CCS toy giveaway for those families who might not otherwise have a Christmas. The other 50% goes to the consignor. Some people donate all of the money from the sale of their toys to the CCS giveaway.

The toy giveaway is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 22 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 23.

Volunteers have helped organize and price the toys. Pitt said they check volunteers’ temperatures when they come in so everyone volunteering is healthy. Anyone who does not feel well does not come in to volunteer.

The toys are being electromagnetically sanitized by Warsaw Community School Corporation before the public sale and before the giveaway.

“I’m doing everything I can to make it as safe as I can,” Pitt said.
