Two Nappanee men arrested after high-speed police pursuit

Two men from Nappanee are in custody after leading police on a chase. The men were reportedly speeding down S.R. 2 Thursday, swerved between two semis, and got onto the U.S. 20/31 Bypass.

They then headed into a closed construction lane exceeding speeds of 100 miles per hour. Both men were arrested at the South Bend International Airport, where they were caught while trying to get into a cab.

21-year-old Tyler Vatter and 28-year-old Matthew Powell were arrested.

Vatter faces preliminary charges of Theft, Leaving the Scene Of A Property Damage Crash, Resisting Law Enforcement With A Vehicle, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Reckless Driving.

Powell was  preliminarily charged with Resisting Law Enforcement.

Indiana State Police say the car they were driving during the chase was stolen.
