Warsaw woman sentenced for accidentally shooting a teen

A Warsaw woman will spend time in the Kosciusko County Jail for accidentally shooting a 15-year-old.

22-year-old Amika Bolen was sentenced to two and a half years after pleading guilty to criminal recklessness for a May 28 incident where a boy was shot in the neck.

Her attorney told the Times Union that with credit for time served and good behavior, he estimates she’ll serve nine months in addition to the six she’s already served.

Bolen says she thought the gun was unloaded when she pointed it at the teenager and pulled the trigger.

Two additional people involved in the incident are still facing charges. 24-year-old Sasha Bolen is scheduled for a pretrial conference on Wednesday for false informing.

21-year-old Dylan Lawson is scheduled for a  change of plea hearing on a obstruction of justice charge in November.
