Updates from Wednesday’s car crash at Eastlake Dr. and Center St.

The Warsaw Police Department responded to a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon that sent three people to the hospital.

Milton E. Smiley, 66, of Warsaw, was driving westbound in a 2014 Toyota Camry on E. Center St. preparing to turn southbound onto Eastlake Drive. There was a red passenger car in front of him slow to turn, when the vehicle finally did turn he followed crashing into Kathy Adams, 67, of Larwill, who was driving a 2013 Ford sedan.

Air bags deployed and the front passenger was trapped in the Smiley’s vehicle. Smiley was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for back pain.

Both passenger side doors had to be cut off of the frame in order to remove the front seat passenger. Smiley’s passenger, Wilma Johnson, 71, of Warsaw, was transported to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne by a Lutheran Samaritan helicopter for complaints of head pain.

Adams told police she was traveling eastbound on E. Center St. and advised the light turned yellow so she accelerated to make it through the light. Smiley turned in front of her, causing heavy front end damage and air bag deployment. Adams was taken to KCH for chest and neck pain.

Damage from the collision was estimated between $25,000 to $50,000.
