Valley School Board To Have Building Project Hearing

A project hearing and the first preliminary determination hearing for Tippecanoe Valley Schools’ 2022 building project will be held during the Tippecanoe Valley School Board meeting Monday.

Superintendent Blaine Conley will speak, along with representatives of Fannie Howey and Baker Tilly, Conley said. The representatives will talk about their part in the building project “that we hope to start here and get approval for,” Conley said at the School Board’s work session Thursday.

After the presentations, there will be time for feedback from the public “on the presentations we’ve done over the past couple of months,” he said.

Conley said the building project will not affect the tax rate and the purpose is to address the needs at the high school.

“We’re very excited for that and look forward to starting this process,” Conley said.

Conley also discussed some important upcoming events in the school corporation.

Burket Educational Center will have its graduation at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 20 in the gymnasium.

Tippecanoe Valley High School will have its graduation June 6 with the baccalaureate at 2 p.m. and the commencement at 2:45 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.

“We’re hoping we can stay the course with that and have a great graduation and celebrate this class and everything that they’ve been able to endure,” Conley said.

The building trades open house will be from 1 to 3 p.m. May 23 at 7433 W. CR 900S, Claypool.

In other business Monday, the Board will be asked to approve:

• The resignation of Chrissy Mills, principal at Akron Elementary, due to a family relocation. Mills spent 13 years at Akron Elementary as a teacher and principal. Conley said, “We’re going to dearly miss her.”

• Approve virtual plans for Tippecanoe Valley Middle School and Tippecanoe Valley High School. Conley said there will be no virtual options for the elementary schools.
