Wabash Receives Money From Stellar Community Program

Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann announced yesterday that the city of Wabash has been named one of Indiana's 2014 Stellar Communities Designees. It was selected from a group of six finalist communities. The Stellar Communities Program was established in 2011 and is a collaboration between the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, the Office of Community and Rural Affairs and the Indiana Department of Transportation to support community planning and development initiatives. The proposal from Wabash plans to connect destinations in the city by enhancing streetscapes, making gateway corridor improvements and extending podestrian and bicycle connectivity. The total cost of the estimate for their strategic investment plan is $28.3 million with a funding gap of $12.7 million.
