Weekend storm causes damages in Silver Lake

A silo in Silver Lake was part of damage incurred during the storms over the weekend.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Matt Frazier out of North Webster tells the Times Union the damaged silo was caused by a “microburst”– a small localized air current that can cause a lot of damage in a short amount of time.

Frazier says the microburst happened Friday night between 10 to 11 p.m.

Other damages to the Silver Lake area include uprooted trees, a tree falling on a house, and wind damage to barns and buildings.

Kosciusko County Emergency Management director Ed Rock says the damages could have been worse.

“We got very lucky,” he said.
