WINONA LAKE — Construction of the Winona Lake roundabout is not complete, but the entire circular path is open to traffic while construction takes a winter pause.

Construction ended last week and is expected to pick up again by April, said Town Manager Craig Allebach.

Work on the project where Winona Avenue, Kings Highway, Argonne Road and Park Avenue intersect should be complete by June 1, Allebach said.

The project has fallen behind by a few weeks from the original timeline, he said.

Allebach said the worst part of the work for motorists is likely in the rearview mirror.

“Really, it wasn’t as bad as anticipated because initially, they said McKinley Street would be closed, but it was open the whole time,” Allebach said.

The cost of the project is expected to be $3 million.
