The Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory will be pursuing a grant through the K21 Health Foundation to purchase 17 Autopulse Mechanical CPR devices.

The department applied for the $225,000 grant that will be used to support live-saving measures within the Warsaw Fire Department, along with the other departments in Kosciusko County. EMS Coordinator Chris Fancil talked to the board about the effectiveness of the devices:

Fancil said the devices would help raise the cardiac survival rate, which is currently at nine percent. He said the closest department to use the CPR device is in Naperville, Illinois, which has seen their cardiac survival rate double ever since they started using it.
